The Cleveland Public Library’s Stokes Wing is a hub for creativity and learning, featuring TechCentral and MakerSpace. Located at 525 Superior Ave., the library offers classes on various computer topics, including 3D printing and engraving.
MakerSpace and TechCentral
MakerSpace allows visitors to bring their own materials or buy items from the library at cost. The space is equipped with tools and resources for creating, including 3D printers and engraving machines. TechCentral, located on the lower level of the Stokes Wing, offers classes on computer topics and provides access to technology and resources.
The Stokes Wing, dedicated in 1997, honors civil rights pioneer Louis Stokes. The building features a striking design, with brightly colored tile in the lobby and a spiral staircase that creates an optical illusion. The top floor offers views of Lake Erie and Public Square.
Maps, Photographs, and More
The sixth floor of the Stokes Wing houses a collection of thousands of maps, charts, atlases, and globes, dating back to 1884. The photograph collection on the fourth floor features 1.5 million local photographs from as far back as the 1850s. Visitors can request information from librarians, who are happy to assist with research and provide access to the library’s resources.
Maker Mondays, free 1-hour workshops, are held at 11 a.m. each Monday. No registration is required, and the library system offers a range of classes across its nearly 30 locations.
