Clermont County leaders and housing officials broke ground on a new community for veterans in Monroe Township. The project, called Veterans Village, will include 19 new housing units, a community clubhouse, and ample green space to create connections for veterans.
Affordable Housing for Veterans
The units will be affordable for veterans in need of housing due to a subsidy from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Supporters say this project has been a long time coming, and it will provide dignity, stability, and opportunity for some of the over 300 veterans who experience homelessness on any given night in the Tri-State.
Austin Heller of the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce applauded the move to help reduce veteran homelessness in southwest Ohio. “Veterans Village is a thoughtfully designed residential community that will provide safe, affordable, and supportive housing for veterans experiencing homelessness or those at risk of becoming homeless,” said Heller.
Construction on Veterans Village started this spring and is scheduled to be wrapped up in late 2027, with veterans expected to begin moving in the first quarter of 2028.
