The Cinerama Dome, a historic landmark in Los Angeles, is set to reopen after being closed for over six years. The theater, which was the world’s first all-concrete geodesic dome, will undergo a period of restoration before reopening in early 2028.
Restoration and Reopening Plans
Sony Pictures Entertainment and Alamo Drafthouse will restore and reopen the Cinerama Dome, which is located on Sunset Boulevard near Vine. The complex next to the venue will be operated by Alamo Drafthouse and will feature 14 screens, concession stands, and a grand lobby. In-theater dining will be available in the 14 theaters, but not inside the Cinerama Dome.
The Cinerama Dome will retain its historic name and will feature a 86-foot-wide, deeply curved screen. The theater will also host special screenings, curated programming, and events created for fans. Karaoke rooms will also be a feature of the complex.
