Chick-fil-A is requesting select patrons update their login credentials following a recent security incident. The restaurant chain dispatched notices to impacted consumers on July 20.
According to the communication, suspicious login attempts were detected on specific Chick-fil-A One Loyalty accounts, triggering an internal inquiry. The investigation revealed that between July 17 and July 19, unauthorized actors utilized stolen credentials acquired from an outside source to target the company’s mobile applications and online site.
A spokesperson for Chick-fil-A said, “We recently identified a security incident that may have affected a limited number of Chick-fil-A One Loyalty accounts. Upon discovering the issue, we took steps to immediately address, secure and restore accounts, and we are communicating directly with all customers who may have been impacted.”
Chick-fil-A reported that the intruders accessed account holders’ names, email contacts, loyalty membership identifiers and the final four digits of stored payment cards. Other saved profile details, including home addresses and birth dates, were compromised as well.
The business advises clients to change their passwords immediately and monitor financial statements and credit reports for unauthorized charges.
