Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, a Mexican soccer legend, has signed a two-year contract with Atletico Dallas, a USL Championship expansion club. The 38-year-old striker will be the first player signed by the team, which will begin play in 2027 under head coach Peter Luccin.
Chicharito’s Career
Hernandez has had a storied career, playing for top-tier clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the Los Angeles Galaxy. He has also represented Mexico’s national team, scoring 52 goals in 109 appearances and becoming the team’s all-time leading scorer.
‘I didn’t come here simply to finish my career,’ Hernandez said. ‘I came here to help build the future of football in Dallas.’ Atletico Dallas will play its home matches at the Cotton Bowl, and Hernandez’s addition gives the team an established name to build its inaugural roster around.
