The Chicago Department of Public Health will spray insecticide in parts of Beverly, Morgan Park, and Washington Heights on Thursday evening due to an increase in mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus.
Area to be Sprayed
The area being sprayed runs from Halsted Avenue to Western Avenue and from 99th Street to 111th Street.
The spraying will begin at dusk and continue through the night until around 1 a.m. Friday, weather permitting.
The insecticide being used is DeltaGard, which is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and is not harmful to people or pets.
Precautions
Residents can take precautions to avoid exposure by staying indoors, closing windows, keeping pets and their food and water indoors, and bringing children’s or pet’s toys inside.
