Chicago’s theater scene is thriving this summer with a range of shows to choose from. The Black Ensemble Theater is presenting ‘Men of Soul,’ a jukebox musical featuring the music of legendary R&B musicians like Ray Charles, Lionel Richie, and Bill Withers.

Kokandy Productions is staging the classic musical ‘Hair’ at the Chopin Theatre, while the CIBC Theatre is hosting the national tour of the Tony-winning musical ‘Suffs,’ which tells the story of the women’s suffrage movement. Other shows include ‘Smiley,’ a queer romantic comedy at Open Space Arts, and ‘Native Gardens,’ a comedy about neighbors clashing over a yard dispute at Theatre Evolve.
The Cornservatory is also presenting a new sketch-comedy show, and Theatre Evolve has a summer comedy series. With so many great shows to choose from, there’s something for everyone in Chicago’s theater scene this summer.
