According to Ciarrocchi, the curriculum focuses on basic footwork, stance, and terminology before moving into safe, competitive bouts. “It’s not choreography, it’s competition, lightsaber combat,” he explains. “We go over footwork, we go over stance, we go over the terms. We try to keep it light, we try to keep it fun, and people just have a really good time.” The class is open to anyone, regardless of prior martial‑arts or fencing experience.

Each participant receives a “battle name,” a tradition that adds a personal touch to the experience. Sometimes the name is chosen, other times it seems to choose the participant. “There’s a little bit of wish fulfillment happening, because people get to be like, ‘I lightsaber fight on one of my nights during the week,'” Ciarrocchi says. “We often say, you know, show up for the lightsaber, stay for the community.” The emphasis on community reflects LudoSport’s broader mission to create an inclusive environment where fans can feel like “space wizards” from a galaxy far, far away.
