Centerpoint Knights are gearing up for the new football season, looking to improve on last year’s 4-6 record and narrowly missing the playoffs. With 17 returning starters, including quarterback Tony Valdez, the team is hopeful for a winning season.
Returning Starters
Valdez threw for 907 yards and 13 touchdowns in the 2025 season. Running back Hayden Dodson is the leading returning ball carrier, with 29 carries for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Ely Welch, an all-conference performer, will also be a key player this season.
The Knights’ offensive line, led by seniors Leo Hamilton and Duncan McAnally, is expected to be a strength of the team. On defense, the team runs a 3-4 scheme, with Welch and Dodson among the leading returning tacklers.
Conference Outlook
Coach Cary Rogers predicts that his team will be around the middle of the pack in the league, with Prescott and Smackover expected to be top contenders. The Knights will face non-conference tests against Murfreesboro, Fouke, and Spring Hill before starting conference play against Horatio on September 25.
