Ceiling tiles fell at Adel Acres nursing home in Adel, Iowa, on Sunday morning, but no injuries were reported. Emergency crews responded to the nursing home at 1900 Green Street after reports of a fire and a possible partial building collapse.
Initial reports indicated that part of the nursing home’s roof may have collapsed. However, a facility supervisor later clarified that some ceiling tiles came down, but the damage was not considered major.
“We had our sprinkler system down our east hall. A portion of that kind of gave way. Then the tiles then fell out of the ceiling. Luckily, you know, everyone is safe. No one was injured. And I just really appreciate all of our staff that came in and really helped out,” said Kody Petrich, executive director at Adel Acres.
Residents in the affected area were safely moved to other rooms as a precaution.
