Poland’s biggest video‑game studio, CD Projekt RED, announced a strong financial second half, posting a 37% increase in net profit to 249.1 million zlotys (about $66.8 million). The result beat analysts’ expectations of 201 million zlotys, according to a Reuters poll.
Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz told investors on the post‑earnings call that the company is on track to meet the first‑stage goal of its incentive programme, which aims for 2 billion zlotys in cumulative net profit between 2023 and 2026. So far the firm has achieved roughly 86% of that target.
Unannounced projects and upcoming releases
During the call, Nielubowicz confirmed that two new projects are in development, though details remain under wraps. The studio also highlighted several upcoming releases that will help sustain growth, including a remastered edition of the award‑winning The Witcher 3 and the second season of the Netflix series Edgerunners.
CD Projekt RED will launch an expansion titled “Songs of the Past” for The Witcher 3 next year. Joint‑CEO Michał Nowakowski said the add‑on has already attracted 900,000 wish‑list adds on digital storefronts within a week of its announcement.
Development teams and future timelines
As of July 31, the company employed 519 developers on The Witcher 4, which is slated for a 2028 release window, and 184 developers on Cyberpunk 2, for which no launch date has been set.
While the firm is confident about meeting its first‑stage incentive goal, Nielubowicz warned that the second‑stage target—3 billion zlotys in net profit for the 2024‑2027 period—may not be reached under the current release schedule.
The company’s strong back‑catalogue performance, combined with the upcoming titles and ongoing partnerships, underpins its optimism for continued profitability and growth.
