On September 26, around 11:30 a.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Murray Fire and Rescue and the Cass County Emergency Management Agency answered a call about a possible person floating in the Missouri River near mile marker 574 in Union, Nebraska.
Response and recovery
Deputies arrived on scene and located an unidentified deceased individual in the river. The body was carefully recovered from the water and transferred to the Douglas County Crime Laboratory for forensic analysis.
Investigation ongoing
Law enforcement officials have not yet determined the identity of the deceased. An autopsy is scheduled for a later date, and investigators are working with state and local partners to gather any information that could help identify the person.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen a missing person in the area to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
