Casper, Bar Nunn, and Mills are coming together to host a joint fireworks display this Fourth of July, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The idea for the joint display was first conceived last year by Bar Nunn Mayor Peter Boyer, who wanted to do something special for the milestone anniversary.
Planning the Display
Boyer shared the idea with Casper Mayor Ray Pacheco and Mills Mayor Leah Juarez, and the three municipalities began planning the logistics of the display. Summer Melin, the HR and PR Director for the City of Mills, said that the three municipalities have been meeting together for the past few months to ensure a fun, safe, and memorable show.
The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. on July 4th, weather permitting. While there is no designated viewing area in Mills, residents can look up to see the show. Bar Nunn has a designated viewing spot near Tonkawa Trail and the Salt Creek Highway.
A Time for Celebration
For Boyer, the celebration is a chance to recognize and reflect on what it means to be an American. “I feel like we’ve been generously blessed as Americans by God,” he said. “We live in a tremendous country — the greatest country in the world — and I think we should celebrate it.” Pacheco agrees, saying that America still stands for liberty and that the resilience of the American people is something to be celebrated.
