James Carville, a veteran Democratic strategist, argued on Sunday that former Vice President Kamala Harris should be satisfied with her political record and step aside from the 2028 presidential race. Carville noted that Harris has had an incredible political career, serving as district attorney for San Francisco, attorney general of California, United States senator from California, and vice president.
Carville’s Comments
Carville stated that Harris should be proud of what she has accomplished, saying, “You know what? She’s had an incredible political career. Literally 99.98572% of any politician would give their right arm to have a career that successful. I do not feel sorry for her. You had the greatest gift that anybody can have. You had a chance.” Carville also suggested that while people in the party do not dislike Harris as a person, and respect what she has done, it is time for her to step aside.
Carville’s co-host, Al Hunt, agreed with Carville, saying that Harris was a bad candidate in 2024 and 2019, and that he does not think she would have won even if Joe Biden had gotten out of the race earlier. Carville and Hunt’s comments come as numerous high-profile candidates are expected to compete for the Democratic Party nomination in 2028.
