Carpinteria, California, marked the one-year anniversary of the Glass House Farms ICE raids with a four-mile march to the cannabis growers’ greenhouses.
Community Response
Activists and concerned citizens participated in the march to show solidarity with those impacted by the raids. The Executive Director of 805Undocufund, Primative Hernandez, stated that the people affected are not alone.
Congressman Salud Carbajal joined the march, condemning the raids as a ‘disproportionate show of force’ that ‘violated the rights of immigrants and some American citizens.’ He was also urged by one of the speakers to help DACA students.
Other speakers, including Anthony Rodriguez, expressed concern about the potential long-term effects of the raids on children, including the possibility of PTSD.
The marchers intend to make this an annual event to raise awareness about the issue.
