Professional Dairy Producers (PDP), the nation’s largest dairy‑producer‑led organization, is holding its 2026 Calf Care Connection® program on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15. The two one‑day workshops are designed for dairy teams to learn essential calf‑raising practices and earn continuing‑education credits.
Workshop details
Both sessions begin with registration at 9:00 a.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. The first day, Oct. 14, takes place at North Central Tech College in Wausau, Wisconsin. The second day, Oct. 15, is hosted by Southwest Tech College in Fennimore, Wisconsin. Simultaneous Spanish translation will be provided so the entire calf‑care team can participate.
Program focus
The “Decisions in Action” producer panel will feature calf‑care managers from a variety of raising systems. Topics include colostrum management, seasonal adjustments, nutrition strategies and housing systems. Panelist Marcks emphasized the importance of high‑quality colostrum and a second feeding, noting that his clients have seen more vigorous calves, lower treatment rates and higher weight‑gain, helping heifers enter the milking herd at peak potential.
Breakout labs and credits
Attendees can also join three breakout lab sessions for hands‑on learning. The program is accredited for up to 4.75 Dairy AdvanCE (DACE) credits and up to 4 ARPAS continuing‑education credits.
Registration
Interested participants can learn more and register at www.pdpw.org or call PDP at 800‑947‑7379. Updates and digital content will be shared via @dairyPDPW on Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn.
By bringing together producers, educators and industry experts, the Calf Care Connection program aims to strengthen Wisconsin’s dairy herd health and productivity, supporting families and communities that rely on dairy farming.
