The Caitlin Clark Foundation partnered with Des Moines Public Schools to provide backpacks filled with supplies to hundreds of students at Hoover High School in Des Moines.
Helping Families Prepare for the School Year
About 500 students benefited from the event, which aims to help families prepare for the school year. DMPS Interim Superintendent Matt Smith said the initiative helps ease the burden of back-to-school shopping.
"For every family, the school year starts with a long shopping list. The Caitlin Clark Foundation is here to lighten that load," Smith said. "Parents told our case managers that these supplies lifted a financial burden that they did not know how they were going to manage this year. This is about family. This is about community. This is about love and sticking together," he said.
This marks the third year of the event.
