The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning the community about a new phone scam involving fraudulent house arrest equipment. According to authorities, scammers are posing as deputies and contacting residents to request deposits for fake house arrest monitoring devices.
How the Scam Works
Deputies emphasized that the sheriff’s office will never call individuals to request payments through gift cards or wire transfers. Officials specifically noted that callers may identify themselves as ‘Sgt. Patterson.’ Anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone claiming to be Sgt. Patterson or requesting such payments is advised to hang up immediately.
