Ye Yint Myint Mo, a Burmese refugee and Cornell EMPA candidate, has founded The Mo School under Myanmar Center to provide career-oriented cybersecurity education tailored to the Burmese diaspora.
Cybersecurity Education Initiative
The initiative seeks to transform how refugee and immigrant communities access high-demand technology careers. Mo’s leadership extends across multiple organizations, including his role as Executive Director of USIRD, a nonprofit focused on immigrant resettlement and legal navigation.
The Mo School addresses barriers to cybersecurity careers, including cost, language, lack of professional networks, and limited access to specialized training programs. The curriculum centers on cybersecurity, one of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in the modern economy.
The educational model prioritizes affordability and accessibility, making it possible for students from a range of economic backgrounds to participate. Coursework will cover essential cybersecurity competencies, including network security fundamentals, threat identification, vulnerability assessment, security monitoring, and compliance frameworks.
