The Buffalo City Council has approved a legal proposal concerning the city’s water rights. The proposal, drafted by Barry Crago’s office, aims to change the point of diversion for the water system to new wells drilled by the city. According to City Attorney Dennis Kirven, the new wells will be used in emergency situations to improve water quality.
Proposal Details
Kirven explained that the proposal was necessary due to the need for better water quality during emergencies. The State Board of Control is expected to hold hearings on the matter in 2027. Kirven will represent the city in the matter, as he has agreed to do so after withdrawing from the council due to a conflict of interest.
