A new affordable housing development, The Overlook at Garson, has broken ground in Buckhead, Atlanta. The development will feature 130 units of affordable one- and two-bedroom homes, priced at 50, 60, and 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). The project is part of the city’s effort to provide affordable housing options alongside the Beltline, a 22-mile loop of trail and park system.
Affordability Goals
The development will include 10,300 square feet of affordable commercial space, with the goal of providing affordable lease terms for small businesses. The Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) will master lease the commercial space and structure out affordable lease terms for businesses.
The Overlook at Garson is expected to be completed in 2028, with the entire Beltline project slated for completion by 2030. The development is seen as a significant step towards providing affordable housing options in the city, with Mayor Andre Dickens stating that it is a vision ‘more than 20 years in the making.’
