A brush fire, known as the Pointe Fire, is burning in Santa Clarita, California, as the region experiences triple-digit temperatures. The fire was first reported at around 1:45 p.m. on Centre Pointe Parkway near Golden Valley Road.
An evacuation warning has been issued for nearby neighborhoods as the Los Angeles County Fire Department sends more resources to fight the vegetation fire. Nearby buildings may be threatened by the fire, officials said.
The fire has burned at least 30 acres, and authorities are urging those who live and work in the area to be prepared to leave. Temperatures exceeded 100 degrees in Santa Clarita, with a high of 105 expected in the afternoon.
