Brooklyn Cyclones Host Seinfeld Night

The Brooklyn Cyclones, a High-A affiliate of the New York Mets, hosted their annual Seinfeld Night on August 1, 2026, at Maimonides Park in Coney Island. The event drew 6,578 fans and included a postgame Elaine Benes dance contest, which has become a hallmark of the team’s promotional schedule.

Seinfeld Night History

The Brooklyn Cyclones launched Seinfeld Night in 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of the sitcom’s debut. The inaugural event featured a stadium renaming to Vandelay Industries Park, puffy shirts, a visit from the Soup Nazi actor Larry Thomas, and the first Elaine Benes dance-off after the game.

This year’s event was the 12th iteration and included themed contests, such as a Junior Mint toss and a pasta sculpture challenge. The Elaine dance contest has consistently drawn the largest crowds and online attention. Contestants wore vintage power suits and floral dresses while attempting the distinctive arm jerks and little kicks.

Videos of the contest circulated widely online, including one shared by the account @WUTangKids that captured contestants in 1990s-inspired outfits executing the signature little kicks and thumbs-up gestures.

The contest recreates a sequence from the Seinfeld episode ‘The Little Kicks,’ Season 8, Episode 4, which originally aired on NBC on October 10, 1996. In the episode, Elaine Benes, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, dances at a company party. George Costanza, played by Jason Alexander, later describes the performance as ‘a full-body dry heave set to music.’
