Broncos QB Bo Nix

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had two ankle surgeries in the last six months. One was right after he broke it in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills. The other was later in the spring, causing Nix to miss some of the offseason program.

Nix looks good and doesn’t appear to have any limitations. He was asked about “not taking off quite as much” after the ankle surgeries. His response was direct.

“Absolutely not. I’m gonna roll and I’m gonna be as athletic as I can be,” Bo Nix said. “We’ve gotta use our strengths and for me that’s when I feel at my best and that’s when I feel free when I’m playing like that, moving around, it’s a good thing.”

Nix’s Running Ability

Nix ran for 430 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie during the regular season and added 356 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground during his sophomore campaign.

It’s clearly a strength of his game, one he’s not willing to give up. Although the answer softened a little bit as Bo Nix went on.

“But at the same time, I also know what it’s like to not have that asset and have to stay in the pocket, so I feel strong no matter what the play is going to be, no matter what happens defensively, no matter what my reaction is. I feel capable of doing anything,” Nix said.

The reporter then followed up asking Nix about sliding down to the ground and perhaps not taking as many hits.

“Well, it’s always the situation. If I’m out, get a first-down, I’ll go down, won’t take unnecessary hits. At the same time, a key third or fourth down you have to go get the first-down and that’s why you train hard in the offseason to withstand those hits. It’s all about being smart. I’m not going to be dumb, I know I’m not gonna run over everybody on the field,” Bo Nix said.
