Broncos Owner Focuses on New Stadium

Greg Penner, owner and CEO of the Denver Broncos, is focused on building a new stadium in Denver by 2031. Penner stated that he is not currently considering becoming the majority owner of the Colorado Rockies, a baseball team in which he and his wife, Carrie Walton Penner, have a 40% interest.

New Stadium Plans

The new stadium, planned for the Burnham Yard area near downtown Denver, will feature a natural grass field and a retractable roof. Penner emphasized that the team has not yet decided on the details of personal seat licenses for the new stadium. The site for the stadium is still in the process of being finalized, with the team having recently purchased six parcels of land from a concrete company.

Penner expressed his enthusiasm for the new stadium, saying that the team is committed to getting the project done by 2031. He acknowledged that the process is complex and will require careful planning, but he is confident that the team can make it happen.

Football Operations

In addition to the stadium plans, Penner also discussed the team’s football operations. He stated that he has not begun considering a long-term extension for quarterback Bo Nix, who is entering his third NFL season. Penner also mentioned that he gave coach Sean Payton a new five-year deal, which is aligned with the contract of general manager George Paton.
