Brightline resumed its higher‑speed train service between West Palm Beach and Orlando early Thursday, ending a week‑long suspension caused by flooding in Brevard County. The restoration matters to West Palm Beach residents and visitors who rely on the rail link for travel to central Florida’s attractions and business hubs.
The service was shut down on Monday after driving rainstorms and flooding covered sections of the Florida East Coast Railway corridor along the shoreline. While the West Palm Beach‑Orlando segment was halted, the South Florida portion of the line—serving West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami—continued to operate on schedule.
In a news release issued shortly after sunrise Thursday, Brightline announced that rail traffic resumed normal operations once water levels receded, necessary repair work was completed, and all tracks, signals and crossings cleared inspection by the Florida East Coast Railway (FECR). Rail infrastructure teams worked closely with FECR and Brevard County Emergency Management to restore service.
During the outage, the railroad stayed in contact with affected customers about travel options, advising them to monitor GoBrightline.com, the Brightline app and social‑media channels for updates. The company reiterated that the safety of guests, teammates and the communities it serves remains its highest priority.
Brightline also highlighted a promotional “Smart Saver” fare of $39 for trips between South Florida and Orlando. The fare requires a 14‑day advance purchase and must be booked by Jan. 10, 2027 for travel through Feb. 28, 2027, according to the company’s website.
What’s next: Travelers planning future trips should verify schedules on the Brightline website or app, especially if weather‑related delays recur. The discounted fare deadline on Jan. 10 creates a limited window for savings, and Brightline has pledged to continue monitoring conditions along the corridor to keep service reliable for West Palm Beach commuters and tourists.
