A new search warrant in the July 4 Brier Creek shooting investigation recounts the events of that night leading up to the massive altercation and shooting that injured two innocent bystanders.
Shooting Details
The warrant describes a large gathering of juveniles who were escorted away from a business in the 8000 block of Brier Creek Parkway around 8 p.m. by police officers. The shooting occurred around 10:24 p.m. Officers found two victims in a black Audi SUV that was hit by gunfire, injuring two, one with a facial injury and the other with a wound to the hand.
Security camera footage showed two groups of teens with several showing off firearms, causing bystanders to flee from the area before the shooting occurred. The identity of one of the suspects was confirmed by a school resource officer with the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, who identified one of the suspects as Justin Amir Brown.
Justin Amir Brown was arrested and charged as an adult with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Discharge a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle, Felony Riot, Going Armed to the Terror of the Public, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. Two other juveniles face charges linked to the violence at Brier Creek on July 4.
