The Milwaukee Brewers scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to earn a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
Brewers Snap Losing Streak
Jake Bauers capped the inning with a go-ahead, RBI-single as the Brewers snapped a three-game losing streak. Bauers’ hit was preceded by run-scoring singles by Jackson Chourio and Garrett Mitchell.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that this was a solid comeback. Murphy said that the Brewers were determined to win.
The Brewers had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on bases-loaded walks to Joey Ortiz and David Hamilton. Ben Rortvedt drove in the Dodgers’ first run with a single in the fifth inning and Max Muncy hit a 3-run home run to make it 4-2 in the sixth inning.
DL Hall picked up the win in relief of Shane Drohan and Trevor Megill notched his 22nd save. Max Muncy belted a three-run homer for the Dodgers, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Edwin Diaz suffered the loss.
The 2 teams meet again tonight in Los Angeles. Robert Gasser who is 3-4 with a 4.57 ERA will pitch for the Brewers. The Dodgers will send Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound. He is 11- 7 with a 2.65 ERA.
