The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in the first game of their 3-game home series at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
The Rockies took a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a run-scoring double by Cole Carrigg and a run-scoring single by Hunter Goodman. Christian Yelich hit a home run in the Brewers’ half of the first inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Kyle Karros made it 3-1 with a run-scoring single in the third for Colorado, and Mickey Moniak’s sacrifice fly added another run for the Rockies in the fourth. Brice Turang homered for the Brewers in the sixth inning, and Colorado’s TJ Rumfield hit an RBI double in the seventh to make it 5-2.
Shane Drohan pitched into the seventh inning for the Brewers, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. His record falls to 5-4. Tomoyuki Sugano got the win for Colorado to improve to 10-4, and Jordan Romano got his eighth save for the Rockies.
The two teams meet again Saturday at American Family Field for the second game of the series. Robert Gasser, who is 2-4 with a 4.91 ERA, will start for Milwaukee. Colorado will counter with Ryan Feltner, who is 3-4 with a 5.48 ERA.
