Arizona took a 3-0 lead on a first-inning home run by Adrian Del Castillo. Christian Yelich made it a 1-run game with a 2-run home run in the fifth inning.
A double by Ildemaro Vargas made it 4-2 in favor of Arizona in the eighth inning before the Brewers’ Jackson Chourio hit a solo home run in the ninth for the final score of 4-3. It was Chourio’s 13th home run of the season.
Merrill Kelly pitched 5 innings and got the win for Arizona. Paul Sewald picked up his 20th save. Woodruff will have his ailing right shoulder examined today.
The 2 teams will close out the series Sunday afternoon with Brandon Sproat (3-4, 5.28 ERA) pitching for the Brewers. Ed Rodriguez (7-2, 2.21 ERA) will pitch for Arizona.
