Brent Spence Bridge Construction

A jam-packed weekend of events and activities is scheduled in Cincinnati, but drivers will need to be strategic about how they’re getting downtown due to the Brent Spence Bridge construction.

Alternative Routes

Construction on the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project has closed several exit ramps and has created traffic headaches at times for people going into Cincinnati and Covington. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is advising drivers of the best ways to navigate the closures and find the most efficient way to get to their destinations.

Drivers traveling on Interstate 75 south in Ohio can use Freeman Avenue, Seventh Street and Fifth Street exits to get into downtown. If they continue south into Covington, across the Brent Spence Bridge, the Fifth Street/Crescent Avenue and the Pike Street exits remain open to use.

For drivers traveling north on Interstate 75 in Kentucky, the best option is Covington’s Fifth Street, according to KYTC. Drivers who are continuing into Cincinnati on I-75 north should use Fifth Street in Ohio or the U.S. 50/W. 6th Street exit.

Drivers can also avoid the Brent Spence Bridge altogether by taking Interstate 71 southbound from the northern suburbs in Ohio, as well as I-275 and I-471 in Northern Kentucky.
