Brendan Sorsby, the Texas Tech quarterback, has been informed by the Canadian Football League (CFL) that teams will not be permitted to add him to their rosters via the league’s negotiation list.
CFL Decision
The CFL stated that upholding the integrity of the league and ensuring fair competition are paramount, and that the allegations involving Brendan Sorsby are serious and concerning. As a result, the CFL will not register a contract for him, and no team will be permitted to add him to its negotiation list.
Sorsby’s options are now limited. He could play for a junior college, a path that former Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers followed to the New Orleans Saints. Dekkers was suspended indefinitely for gambling while at Iowa State and played at Iowa Western Community College during the 2024 season, leading the Reivers to an 11-2 record and a spot in the national championship game.
