A Boynton Beach man is seeking answers after discovering crosses and flowers from his parents’ gravesite were thrown away during a cemetery cleanup at Boynton Beach Memorial Park.
Personal Items Discarded
Pete Stergiou visits the cemetery almost every week to honor his parents, but two weeks ago, he arrived to find their gravesite cleared of personal items, leaving him shocked and disappointed.
Stergiou described the scene as ‘a punch in the gut,’ noting that two hand-painted crosses and a stone he had given his mother before her passing were missing.
Stergiou later searched the cemetery and found the dumpster packed with crosses and flowers.
A cemetery employee explained that this was a part of a ‘clean-up.’ The employee added that emails were sent out, and signs were posted.
Stergiou has since replaced the missing items with fresh flowers and new crosses but said what he truly wants is an apology.
‘This is all I have left of them at the end of the day,’ he said.
