Boy Meets World Stars Reflect on Ben Savage’s Absence from Podcast

Stars from the beloved TV series Boy Meets World, Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel, have shared their thoughts on Ben Savage’s decision to distance himself from their lives and their podcast, Pod Meets World. The podcast, which Friedle, Fishel, and Rider Strong launched in 2022, revisits episodes of the iconic show. However, Savage, who played Cory Matthews, chose not to participate, leaving fans and former co-stars curious about the reasons behind his absence.

Friendship and Family

In a recent interview, Friedle, known for his role as Eric Matthews, expressed his ongoing hope for rekindling his friendship with Savage. Despite the lack of communication, Friedle remains optimistic, stating, “I know I’m shouting into the void, but I’m going to keep doing it. I haven’t given up on my friend.” Fishel, who portrayed Topanga Lawrence, Cory’s girlfriend and eventual wife, also shared her sentiments. She expressed understanding for Savage’s choice not to join the podcast but misses the closeness they once shared.

Fishel reflected on Savage’s new chapter in life as a husband and father. She fondly imagines him embracing fatherhood with his wife, Tessa Angermeier, and their daughter, born in November 2025. “We talked a lot about how he looked forward to being a dad someday,” Fishel shared, adding that she would love to catch up on his life and the milestones he is experiencing.

A Nostalgic Journey

Boy Meets World aired from 1993 to 2000, capturing the hearts of many viewers. Its spinoff, Girl Meets World, continued the story for three seasons from 2014 to 2017. The nostalgia surrounding these shows has kept fans engaged, making the absence of Savage from the podcast even more noticeable.

In a 2023 interview with Variety, Fishel candidly mentioned, “He ghosted us,” while Friedle echoed the sentiment, expressing confusion over the sudden distance. Despite the lack of a clear explanation, the former co-stars continue to cherish the memories and hope for a future reconciliation.

Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World are available for streaming on Disney+, allowing fans to relive the cherished moments of the series.
