Boston Neighbors Form Unlikely Bond Over World Cup

A Boston-area resident, Mike Morrison, shared a video of a Scottish fan playing the bagpipes at 6:30 a.m. outside an Airbnb across the street. The video quickly went viral, with over 9 million views as of Saturday afternoon.

A New Friendship Forms

Morrison wasn’t complaining about the early morning bagpiping. Instead, he found the Scots’ joy infectious and decided to introduce himself. The group of Scottish fans, known for their enthusiasm and fun, had arrived in Boston for the World Cup.

Morrison and the Scottish fans started hanging out, and he even grilled them sausages for breakfast on Saturday morning. The Scots offered him a ticket to an upcoming World Cup game, which he accepted. The two groups were interviewed for the popular U.K. show ‘Good Morning Britain,’ with the interview set to air on Monday.

Morrison reflected on the experience, saying it reminded him that people can come together and celebrate their shared passions, despite their differences. He also learned that if you can’t have fun with the Scots, that’s a personal problem.
