Bossier Parish Schools in Louisiana are preparing for the start of the new academic year. Local officials, administrators, and new educators gathered to welcome students back to the classroom. New Teachers Share Their Inspirations
For new teachers entering the district, the return to school represents a personal calling driven by their own experiences and a desire to make a lasting difference. Melonie Bullock, a new teacher in the parish, said, “My teacher was my constant as a foster child, and I wanted to bring that impact back to students that my teacher provided to me.” Other incoming educators shared similar inspirations rooted in their childhood memories and early ambitions.
Leslie Rivera, another new teacher, said, “I don’t know, I just always kind of known. I knew I wanted to help children learn and just be the foundation to their careers and journeys in the future.” Bossier Parish students in first through 12th grades are scheduled to head back to class on Thursday, with kindergarten students returning on August 13 and pre-K students on August 20.
