Bossier Parish Schools have ended 60 years of federal desegregation litigation, according to Attorney General Liz Murrill. A joint stipulation of dismissal was filed to bring the case to a close.

The Bossier Parish School Board has been working diligently with the Department of Justice to ensure compliance with court orders and end the desegregation case. Superintendent Jason Rowland stated that the dismissal allows the school system to make its own decisions, keeping in mind the history of the past 61 years.
The joint filing, submitted by the United States Department of Justice and the Bossier Parish School Board with the support of Attorney General Murrill’s office, asks the court to dismiss the case with prejudice. This decision brings one of Louisiana’s longest-running federal desegregation cases to an end.
