Bossier City Lions Club Hosts 73rd Annual High School Football Jamboree Friday

The Bossier City Lions Club is once again bringing together families, alumni, and local athletes for its 73rd Annual High School Football Jamboree. The event kicks off Friday evening at M.D. Ray Field on the Airline High School campus, with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. and pre‑game festivities beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Game Schedule

Three matchups will showcase the talent of Bossier Parish high schools:

  • 5:45 p.m. – Benton vs. Haughton
  • 7:15 p.m. – Plain Dealing vs. Bossier
  • 8:45 p.m. – Airline vs. Parkway

Each game offers a chance for the community to rally behind its youth, celebrate local traditions, and enjoy a classic Friday night football atmosphere.

Community Partnerships and Environmental Outreach

Keep Bossier Beautiful has partnered with the jamboree to launch its seasonal litter‑prevention and environmental‑education program. Because the jamboree draws thousands of spectators, the organization will use the venue to teach litter‑prevention, engage students in stewardship activities, and manage waste throughout the evening.

History and Tradition

The first Lions Club football jamboree was held on August 27, 1954, featuring eight teams across four games. Over the past 73 years, the event has become a beloved community tradition, linking generations of Bossier Parish residents through sport, fellowship, and shared memories. Alumni often return to watch current students compete, reinforcing the strong ties between schools, families, and the Lions Club.

Supporting Local Schools and Youth Programs

Proceeds from the jamboree are earmarked for parish high schools, helping to fund football programs and provide college scholarships. The Bossier City Lions Club also supports vision‑screening initiatives, supplies eyeglasses to children in need, and contributes to the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the Louisiana Children’s Camp for children with special needs.

How to Follow the Action

Fans can catch highlights and scores each Friday night on the “Southern Classic Chicken Friday Football Fever” show at 10:30 p.m. on KPXJ CW 21. Hosts Alex Anderson, Daniel Brown, and the KT BS 3 sports team provide game recaps, player interviews, and regional sports news. Additional coverage is available on the KT BS 3 Friday Football Fever Facebook page, the KT BS 3 sports section of KTBS.com, and the station’s mobile app for real‑time scores and weather updates.

Get Involved

Community members are encouraged to share photos of the games, tailgate gatherings, and fan celebrations by emailing [email protected] and using the hashtag #3fever on social media. The Lions Club welcomes volunteers to assist with litter‑prevention efforts and to help make the evening safe and enjoyable for all attendees.

With a rich history, a focus on youth development, and a partnership that promotes environmental responsibility, the 73rd Annual High School Football Jamboree promises to be a memorable night for Bossier City and the surrounding parish.
