Bonrue Bakery, known for its European‑inspired pastries, opened its first northern Utah location in Provo, providing a new spot for residents to purchase croissants, kouign‑amann, tarts, pies, sandwiches and salads. The shop is situated minutes from Brigham Young University and LaVell Edwards Stadium, according to Fox 13.
Co‑founder Chris Connors said the expansion was driven by long‑standing requests from Southern Utah customers. “Maybe one in every three or four people coming in was saying, you know where you should go? You should go up to Provo, you should go to Orem, you should go to Spanish Fork,” Connors told Fox 13. He added that the Provo opening marks a milestone for the bakery, which first opened in downtown St. George in 2021.
Consistency is a core focus for the bakery. “Our biggest thing is consistency, so you will taste the same exact thing in St. George as you do in Provo,” Connors said. The bakery’s display case, which the team refers to as its “jewelry case,” showcases the pastries that have built a loyal customer base in Southern Utah, where lines have sometimes stretched out the door.
Local resident Tate Broesder, who lives in the Provo area, said, “I was pleasantly surprised about how good all the treats were.” Connors noted that many customers visit three or four days a week, and the bakery does not take that patronage for granted.
Looking ahead, Bonrue Bakery has two additional grand openings scheduled for 2024. The Orem location will celebrate its opening on Saturday, November 7, while the Spanish Fork shop is set to open on December 5. Both events will feature giveaways, special surprises and opportunities for the community to sample the bakery’s offerings.
What’s next: Provo residents can enjoy the new bakery now, and those in Orem and Spanish Fork can anticipate grand opening celebrations on November 7 and December 5, respectively. For more details, visit Bonrue Bakery’s website.
