Bonnie Palmer opened Bonfire Yoga Studio in August 2025 to give neighbors a community‑centric wellness space. The 2,000‑square‑foot studio, built over four months, provides a range of heated and non‑heated classes designed for all skill levels.
Founder’s journey
Palmer began practicing yoga 13 years ago, first learning from YouTube videos before attending her first heated class in Atlanta, Georgia. “It just changed everything for me,” she recalled. After years of driving into downtown Austin for the type of practice she wanted, Palmer decided to bring that experience closer to home.
Class offerings
The studio employs 18 teachers who run daily heated sessions, except Thursdays, when only non‑heated classes are offered. Signature classes include the 60‑minute Bonfire Flow, a traditional vinyasa practiced at 90 °F, as well as hot mat pilates, hot power yoga, hot sculpt and flow, and unheated candlelight yin, kundalini and vinyasa flows.
Each class provides modifications and prop guidance so newcomers feel comfortable. “We want to welcome people … who maybe haven’t practiced before to come in and give it a try,” Palmer said. “Whether you’ve been practicing for 14 years or it’s your first day, you’ll fit in perfectly.”
Teaching credentials
Palmer earned her 200‑hour yoga teaching certification this summer at Black Swan Yoga in Austin, completing an intensive month of 10‑hour days. She emphasizes creating an intentional atmosphere with music, lighting and aroma, noting that even small details like audible breathing foster community support.
Community response
Since opening, Bonfire Yoga has experienced an “immense outpouring of support.” Palmer thanked the community for their enthusiasm and encouraged anyone who hasn’t visited to check the studio’s schedule, which offers a wide variety of classes.
