Boise State University has launched a search for its next chief academic leader, the provost and vice president for academic affairs. The university’s leadership announced the search in an email to the campus community, stating that the goal is to name a provost by the end of 2026 or early in the Spring 2027 semester.

The search will be co-chaired by Erik Hadley, an assistant professor of history and past president of the Boise State Faculty Senate. The university put the provost’s search on hold while the State Board of Education completed a 15-month presidential search, which resulted in the hiring of President David Hahn on July 1.
The provost’s post is one of several top-level vacancies at Boise State, following the departure of several key officials since March 2025. John Buckwalter left Boise State in July 2025 for a similar post at the University of Central Florida, and Zeynep Hansen has served as interim provost since then.
