Oklahoma City Fire Department officials confirmed they recovered the body of a boy who went missing in a flooded northwest Oklahoma City creek Saturday afternoon.
Maj. John Chenoweth, with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, said the call about the boy going underwater came in about 2:45 p.m. Saturday. There were two different groups of two teenage boys in this creek about 186th and Western. One boy saw his friend go underwater, he yelled at the other boys to call 911.
Chenoweth said, “Our divers did report that where he did go under, it is up to 20 feet deep right now, just with the recent rains and everything like that, this creek is overflowing.” Just before 4:40 p.m. the boy’s body was located by a diver, Chenoweth said. The diver reported the boy’s body was found in about 15 feet of water.
