Body of Former Reality TV Star Matt Brown Found in Okanogan River

The body of Matthew Brown, a former reality TV star, was discovered in the Okanogan River near Oroville, Washington. Brown, who was 43 years old, had been missing since May 27, when a 9-1-1 caller reported seeing a man floating face down in the river.

Search and Discovery

The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife, conducted an extensive search using watercraft, aerial drones, and divers. Brown’s body was eventually found by a group of private citizens on Saturday afternoon, bringing the search to a tragic end.

Although officials did not initially confirm the identity of the man, speculation arose on social media, fueled by reports from entertainment news outlets that Brown’s family believed it was him. Brown was known for his appearance on the Discovery Channel’s ‘Alaskan Bush People’ but left the show in 2019 due to struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues.

Recent Activities and Investigation

Reports indicate that Brown had recently been seen near the Driscoll Island Wildlife Area, close to where his body was found. Videos posted online showed him in a concerning state, wandering naked and intoxicated while holding a firearm. A firearm was recovered from the water, but authorities have not yet determined the cause and manner of his death. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted by the Okanogan County Coroner’s Office later this week.

This incident has drawn attention to the challenges faced by individuals dealing with addiction and mental health issues, highlighting the importance of support systems for those in need.
