The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) reported that the man went missing on Thursday after two individuals in a tandem kayak fell into the water. One of them became separated from the kayak, leading to a search and rescue operation. The initial call for help was received around 4 p.m. that day.
Michael Sterwerf of ODNR stated, “How that person became in the water is still under investigation right now, but they became separated from the kayak and they had quite a distance to swim back to shore.”
Local agencies, including the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, and New Richmond Police Department, are assisting in the investigation. The identity of the body found has not yet been confirmed as the missing kayaker.
