A boater went missing on the Tombigbee River in Sumter County early Sunday morning after falling overboard from a 17-foot aluminum Excel duck boat. The missing boater, identified as 48-year-old Damond E. Driggers of Millry, was not wearing a personal flotation device and did not use an emergency cutoff switch at the time of the incident.
Search Efforts
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division responded to the incident and conducted search operations on Sunday. The search was suspended overnight due to darkness and will resume Monday morning. ALEA Marine Patrol troopers continue to investigate the incident.
