Denver’s local music scene is thriving, with Blucifer’s First Rodeo selling out of tickets for the South Broadway portion of the festival. The event, which features dozens of bands, will take place on June 24 and 25 at various venues along Broadway, including Bar 404, Hi-Dive, and Skylark.
DIY Fest and House Shows
Although tickets for the South Broadway shows have sold out, there are still opportunities to see live music organized by the festival. Blucifer’s First Rodeo will also host an all-ages “DIY Fest” featuring over two dozen local bands on Thursday, July 23, and Saturday, July 25, at venues like D3 Arts in Westwood and Squirm Gallery in Five Points. Additionally, the festival organized a series of house shows across the Baker neighborhood on Sunday, June 26.
Tickets to all three days of the DIY satellite and house shows are available for $39. Organizers expect about 3,000 people to attend the festival. Co-organizer Mike Young expressed surprise at selling out of South Broadway tickets a month before the festival, attributing it to an appetite for independent art and community.
