BLINK organizers announced that indie pop band lovelytheband will headline the opening celebration of the 2026 BLINK arts and light festival. The free concert is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m., and will take place on Central Parkway between Liberty Street and West 14th Street, directly in front of TQL Stadium in Cincinnati.
Event details and activities
The five‑block stretch of Central Parkway will be closed to traffic for the evening, allowing families and visitors to enjoy a variety of interactive installations. Attendees can create glow‑in‑the‑dark charms and jewelry, capture bubble‑glow prints, and explore other light‑themed attractions set up throughout the area.
In addition to lovelytheband’s performance, the celebration will feature local marching bands and a special ceremony to “turn on the lights.” A local child, selected through a community‑wide coloring contest, will help activate the festival’s signature light display, highlighting BLINK’s emphasis on community participation.
Organizer’s vision
“BLINK has always been about that moment when you turn a corner and discover something you weren’t expecting,” said Leslie Mooney, Executive Director of BLINK. “From kicking off the weekend with lovelytheband to fashion shows, skating, live performances, food and drink, there are so many different ways to experience BLINK and make the festival your own.”
The festival, now in its ninth year, has grown into the nation’s largest art and light event, drawing visitors from across the region. This year’s opening night promises to blend music, visual art, and family‑friendly activities, reinforcing BLINK’s role as a cultural centerpiece for Cincinnati and the surrounding communities.
Practical information
Admission to the opening celebration is free. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and to take advantage of the numerous food and beverage vendors that will be stationed along the parkway. Public transportation options, including the Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar, will provide additional access to the venue.
