Birmingham has a new reason to celebrate: Ruby Tilghman, who held the title of Miss Birmingham, has been crowned Miss Alabama, according to 1819 News.
The achievement is a proud moment for the Magic City, sending one of its own to represent the entire state of Alabama. Tilghman’s win means she will go on to compete at the national level as Miss Alabama, carrying Birmingham’s spirit with her.
The crowning adds to a festive stretch for Birmingham, which also saw its beloved Thunder on the Mountain fireworks show return to Vulcan Park for America’s 250th birthday celebration over the Fourth of July weekend — a tradition that continues to draw crowds from across the region to light up the night sky above the Magic City.
