Birmingham rang in America’s 250th birthday in style this Fourth of July weekend, with two marquee celebrations drawing the community together in festive fashion.
The beloved Thunder on the Mountain fireworks show returned to mark the historic occasion, continuing one of the Magic City’s most cherished Independence Day traditions. The annual display, set against the backdrop of Red Mountain, gave families and visitors a spectacular way to honor the nation’s semiquincentennial milestone.
Meanwhile, the City of Birmingham hosted a special America 250 birthday celebration at historic Sloss Furnaces, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The event brought residents together at the nationally recognized industrial heritage site to mark the occasion in a setting that reflects Birmingham’s own deep roots in American history.
Together, the two events offered Birminghamians a memorable and community-centered way to celebrate 250 years of American independence — right in their own backyard.
