Bill Curnow Runs for District 4

Bill Curnow, a candidate for City Council District 4, has pledged to listen to the community before making decisions. His top priorities include public safety, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility.

Public Safety

Curnow believes that public safety is the most important issue, and he wants to increase the number of police officers and firefighters. He also wants to ensure that they are well-trained and not overworked.

Regarding firefighters, Curnow noted that they are now handling more health-related calls than ever before. He wants to make sure they have the necessary resources to do their job effectively.

Water and Infrastructure

Curnow also wants to focus on water and infrastructure. He believes that Lubbock needs to update its 100-year plan, which is now almost 15 years old. He wants to keep plans for Lake 7 on track and explore the possibility of reusing treated water.

Curnow also discussed the proposed data centers in Lubbock, stating that he wants to analyze each project based on its merits. He believes that data centers can increase the tax base, but he also wants to make sure that the city is not giving away too much to attract them.

Community Involvement

Curnow has been involved in the Lubbock community for many years. He started as a Red Cross volunteer and eventually became the local chair. He has also worked for the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association, overseeing their security program.

Curnow believes that local government is where people get the most basic services, such as trash collection and public safety. He wants to inspire people to get involved and vote, saying that “you get the government you show up for”.
